I was having a fun session on my new Vec Cod Fish Twin Fin when I caught a screamer through to the inside. I was going pretty fast when I saw the section coming. I knew I would be ending my ride on the beach, and usually theres a small trench along the shoreline that gives my fins enough space to cut through, but not this time. I landed on a pile of rocks. Video below...
It's funny NOW how angry I got... but in the moment I was pretty mad. I mean, it was the second time riding this brand new stick (that I convinced my wife to let me gift myself) AND I broke it enough where it needs repair before it was even Christmas. I was just stoked that I was able to get the board in time for my birthday, thanks Shawn Vecchione! But now it's gone to the shop and in good hands with veteran shaper and CA transplant, Roger Beal, formerly of Diamond Glassing, who worked on boards for Gordon and Smith, and others, mentoring under the legendary Rusty Preisendorfer. I'm now awaiting this golden yellow beauty's return with a brand new fin block... hopefully that will be before the winter season is over!
