I'm only going back 2 summers for this video, so not a very old throwback. It's a short feature story I produced for a graduate class I was taking in Advanced Broadcast Journalism. The course was a 3-credit class that was done in one week. I had to ride a bus from St. Louis to Louisville to Indiana and then to Chicago. At each destination I had to get off the bus and "find a story" about someone interesting. I had to write and edit whatever story I shot before arriving at the next destination. I learned a lot about the pressures I put on my students to produce meaningful stories.
Where's the surfing connection?
Upon arriving in Chicago I realized there were waves on the Great Lakes. After a few phone calls and emails, I met Rex. Here's his story.
